Couples Bible Study

Pastor Matt will lead a Bible study, open to everyone in the community, based on John and Stasi Eldredge’s book  Love and War: Finding the Marriage You’ve Dreamed Of.  Contact Pastor Matt if interested.

We will meet at 6:30 at Penni and Phil Bye’s home at 902 Birkdale Dr, in the Glen Laurel subdivision in Clayton (every Tuesday for the remainder of the school year) for approximately an hour.  Child care will be available for a small fee.

Holy Land Pilgrimage

One of our focuses at Greater Heights UMC is to teach people scripture and to make the Word come to life, and one of the best ways is to see the places that Scripture talks about first hand.  On December 7, 2011, Pastor Matt will lead a group of members and friends of Greater Heights UMC to Israel for 8 days to see Jerusalem, Galilee, Bethlehem, Nazareth and much more.  Those who go will be able to go on a boat in the Sea of Galilee and see where Jesus spent most of his life and performed over 80% of the miracles scripture records in one panoramic view.  You will be able to kneel at the place where tradition says Christ was born into this world.  See the empty tomb and stand on Calvary’s Hill.
After the trip to the Holy Land, you will have the option of joining Pastor Matt to see the wonders of Egypt. You will be able to see the sunrise from Mt Sinai and trace the route of the Exodus, see King Tut’s golden death mask in Cairo, see the Great Pyramids and Sphinx, cross the Nile River into the Valley of the Kings and Queens, and stand in the Luxor Temple.

GHUMC Silent Partner Ministry

A new ministry at Greater Heights! This ministry is for the church by the church. This program will provide much needed assistance to our fellow friends and neighbors. This assistance can be in the form of basic needs like food and shelter or other much needed help like a visit to the dentist.

This program will be just as the name implies, Silent! Only Pastor Matt will see the name on the request. All other committee members will see only the request. The committee will help match needs with services and available funds. Donations should be designated for the Silent Partner Ministry. Services are needed to help our friends, i.e. drivers, meals, childcare, etc…

Passage Home partners with GHUMC

Passage Home fights poverty and homelessness by strengthening families and neighborhoods, it is a nationally recognized nonprofit community development corporation that has been serving Wake county, NC since 1991.  Volunteers are needed, contact Cheryl Lane to help. Woman’s Bible Study

Have you ever heard or used the phrase “I’ll believe it when I see it” or “seeing is believing”?  I know I have, but as Christians God calls us to ” walk by faith, not by sight”.  (2 Cor. 5:7)  How are we do that in this day and age of secular skepticism? Pastor Matt will be leading a two week seminar on marriage. Learn how every marriage can reach greater heights. Open for everyone in the community, not just GHUMC so bring friends and neighbors. Will discuss communication, sex and intimacy, conflict resolution, and what men and women really want.
