Youth/ Men’s Camping Trip

Scheduled for Saturday February 20th-Sunday the 21st.  This is open to all the males of the youth group.  We will be camping at Baytree Lakes.  We need camping gear.  So if you have any, please let me know.  Sign up sheets will be at youth group meetings from now until February 14th.

Youth Bible Study

We will begin Sunday Feb 21st.  This bible study will meet on Sundays at 5:30 or 6:00.  It will run for 7-8 weeks.  All youth are encouraged to attend.  Pastor Matt will be leading this bible study.  Sign up sheets are available every Sunday morning in the lobby at worship.
We will begin having small group meetings very soon.  I am calling them “88’s.”  (8 youth for 8 weeks)  These groups are designed for in-depth spiritual growth/formation.  88’s will be personal and will allow the youth to grow in their relationship with Christ while strengthening their relationships with friends.  These groups will be key to the continued growth of our youth ministry.  The youth will be put together with others close in age.  (6th graders won’t be put with 11th graders etc)  The groups will be fun, engaging and God centered.  Sign up sheets are available at youth group meetings.  I am also looking for parents/adults that will be a leader for 8 weeks.  Your participation will simply be to facilitate the meetings.  It will be up to the individual groups as to when and where they meet.  After February 14th I will begin putting the groups together.  Again, this area of our ministry is very important and will reach youth like nothing else we do.  I hope everyone considers committing to an eight week small group.

Youth Praise Band

At GHUMC we are extremely blessed to have such a talented bunch of youth.  That being said, we are also starting a youth praise band.  The youth praise band is for any youth that sings or plays ANY instrument.  The primary purpose of this group will be to lead worship at youth group meetings/events and occasionally lead worship on Sunday mornings.  Sign up sheets will be available beginning this Sunday at youth group meetings.

Confirmation Classes Beginning Soon

All middle school age students who are  interested in becoming a member of GHUMC or want to learn more about the Christian faith, please sign-up for confirmation.
Confirmation classes will be held every Sunday in March at 4 PM.  We will learn about the basics of our Christian faith with an emphasis on living our faith and sustaining a strong relationship with Christ.  Please see Pastor Matt to register.  There is no cost and no obligation to join.

Why Greater Heights Kid’s Church?

In Genesis 28, Jacob’s life is forever changed while having a dream in which he sees a ladder with angels ascending and descending and he realizes that God is working in a special way in his life (the Temple will later be built on this spot). We believe that God is still working on our behalf and we want the kids to experience greater heights in their own lives just like Jacob did.”

We are not a “normal” children’s church! (Some people say that it’s like a great VBS all the time.) We love to play games, do projects, and hear Bible stories as we worship God. We at Greater Heights Kid’s Church know that knowing GOD is VERY important, but not as important as living for God. We know GOD is great, that’s why we feel that learning about GOD is fun and relevant. Fun doesn’t mean we can’t have GOD in our lives. The point we LOVE to show is that GOD is with us ALL the time! Having fun learning to keep GOD in our hearts is just a plus!
